Anti-Malarials
Antimalarials are a group of medications which can be used to stop someone contracting malaria and also as a treatment for the disease. Anyone who is travelling to a country where there is a risk of contracting the condition should start taking the tablets preventatively.
Generally, these type of medications must be taken for a set period of time (advised by your doctor) before visiting a country with risk of malaria, continued during your stay, and then taken for anything from 1 to 4 weeks when you return. The type of tablet you will be prescribed will vary depending on where you are travelling, your medical history and your age.
